Willingen Wheels of Speed!
We have just been at the great Wheels of Speed event in Willingen. It is a huge festival as well as a great Downhill race on the same course as they held the World Cup round a few years ago. The course is like a huge BMX track up top with a lot of hard pedalling with massive jumps then into the woods and over the big hip jump (if you are brave enough) into some really nasty rocks off a big fade into more rocks and jumps then some high speed corners down the bottom meadow section with more massive jumps. The bad wind caused a few casualties over the big jumps in practice and Saturday qualifying but held off OK for the finals today. Matt Simmonds rode amazing to place 4th today and taking a nice 1000 Euros only 1 second behind winner Gee Atherton and the same second as 3rd. Matt rode his Intense SOCOM which is possibly the best bike around for this type of track as it sprints so well like a 4X bike but can take the big hits and rocks well with its VPP 8" travel. We have been really busy racing and travelling these last we weeks and raced the 3rd round of the Nissan UCI World Cup last week in "Sunny" Fort William and then spent a few days at our sponsors Chain Reaction Cycles in Northern Ireland which was great. Willingen Wheels of Speed Results 1. Gee Atherton - Atherton Racing 2. Filip Polc - Kenda Tomac 3. Andrew Neethling - Mongoose 4. Matt Simmonds - Chain Reaction Cycles / Intense 5. JD Swanguen - MS Intense factory team For a full write up and photos have a look on our website www.crcintense.com
